Agility Fun-Day Sunday |

The Clan held an agility fun day and picnic on Sunday, May 16 at the home of Gail Faherty. Gail's lovely, spacious, shaded back yard was just perfect for agility and picnicing. Unlike last year when we scheduled this activity and had a weekend of monsoons, this year the weather was terrific- temperatures in the mid-70's and no humidity. |

Around 20 of our members, their friends, and family attended with Beardies and "honorary" Beardies (Siberians, Samoyeds, and an All-American). The two youngest present were Gail's 7-week old grandson, Adam Robert, and my new 12-week old Beardie,Belle. There was no lack of people willing to help with the job of socializing the babies. |

I brought my agility equipment and prepared two types of set-ups. One for introducing inexperienced dogs to equipment consisting of the A-frame set low, an open tunnel and a closed tunnel with a short chute, a baby tire, a line of jumps arranged in a jumping chute and a plank perched on a pause table to accustom the dogs to walking on a narrow surface. The second set-up was for dogs with some training and consisted of a 14-obstacle mini-course taken from the pages of "Clean Run" which could be done in about five different ways. |

The day started with a Beardie bounce-in where we let most of the dogs run loose together. It's so wonderful to see the way Beardies run just for the joy of movement. After a morning of agility, we all took a rest and time out for a pot luck picnic. We never organize what people bring but it always seems to turn out that we have a perfect assortment of food. After lunch, there was time for more agility and the obligatory group picture. |

In the end, the day seemed too short. Everyone went home, dogs and people alike, full and tired but happy! |

Agility is a fun sport for both Beardies and their owners. Several Club members are competing in Agility, and they are having a great time! |
